Hi, I'm Ashanti - professional social butterfly, full-time best friend, and part-time picnic table supervisor. I'm an almost 4-year-old pit/terrier mix weighing about 46 pounds, and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I LOVE making friends. Seriously. Human? Friend. Dog? Friend. Random person walking by during a walk? Definitely my friend. I cannot pass a single person without stopping to say hello. It's just good manners. The people at the shelter say I have the sweetest heart, and honestly... they're right. Before I came here, I was living in a situation where there were far too many dogs and not enough care to go around. Even after all of that, I still wake up every day excited to love people, play with my doggy friends, and enjoy life. I haven't let my past change my happy spirit. I'm medium energy when I'm hanging out with people - I love walks, lounging nearby, getting attention, and just being included in whatever you're doing. But when it's time for playgroup? Oh, it is ON. I go every single day and absolutely LOVE romping around with my dog friends. Toys, fetch, zoomies, wrestling with pals... that's my specialty. I'm also known for climbing onto picnic tables during staff lunch breaks so I can lay beside everyone while they eat. Why sit on the ground when I could supervise lunch from the table like a proper lady? The shelter staff says I'm incredibly smart, housebroken, and great on a leash. I also do well with other dogs AND cats, though slow introductions are always the best way to help everyone become friends. Because of my energy and excitement, I may do best in a home with older teens, around 13 and up. What I really want is a family of my own - people to walk beside, cuddle with, laugh with, and love forever. I've spent enough time waiting for my happy ending, but I still believe it's out there. Maybe it's with you.
