He came to the rescue alongside Sundae and their puppies, and it’s immediately clear that this boy’s favorite thing in the world is simply being close to his humans. He does shed, and while he’s playful and energetic outdoors, inside the home he transforms into a deeply affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to follow his family from room to room and soak up every bit of love and attention available. Daily Routine Waffle Cone usually wakes up around 6–7 AM ready to head outside, stretch his legs, pee, and immediately begin monitoring the yard for birds and squirrels. After a morning walk, he loves remaining outdoors to bounce around in the sunshine, patrol the yard, and chase little critters whenever the opportunity presents itself. During the day, he relaxes around the house with his people and happily follows them from room to room. He truly does not want to be alone if he can help it. If someone gets up, chances are Waffle Cone is right behind them. He also loves outings and adventures. Whether it’s errands, shopping centers, beer gardens, or even horse stables, Waffle Cone is thrilled to hop in the car and tag along. His foster family says he would happily go absolutely anywhere with his people. In the evenings, he enjoys another long walk before settling in nearby for cuddle time. At bedtime, he does his best to sleep as close to his humans as physically possible — even if that means creatively squeezing himself beside the bed when he can’t fit on it. Personality Waffle Cone is affectionate, sensitive, playful, and incredibly people-oriented. He is the definition of a velcro dog. He bonds deeply with his humans and wants to remain close to them at all times. He gently asks for affection by nudging hands with his nose or softly resting his head nearby. Ear scratches and chin rubs are among his favorite things in life, and he would happily stay snuggled beside his people for hours if given the chance. He’s also very well behaved and clearly has had training. He never grabs food, never nips, and doesn’t invade people’s space. In fact, one of the sweetest things about him is how gentle and polite he is despite being such an enthusiastic dog. Exercise & Fun This boy LOVES walks and outdoor time. He has a beautiful fast-running gait and likes to keep moving, usually trotting ahead enthusiastically on leash while checking back in with his humans. One of his cutest habits is giving little “boops” with his nose to each person during walks as if to make sure everyone is still together. Waffle Cone especially enjoys: Daily walks Zooming around the yard Watching and chasing squirrels and birds Car rides and outings Exploring new places with his family He’s energetic without being wild, and he thrives when he has both exercise and companionship. Other Animals & Social Skills Waffle Cone enjoys interacting with other animals and has generally done well meeting dogs, especially friendly ones with wagging tails. He recently met a horse at his foster family’s barn, which may have been the first animal to truly intimidate him! He can initially be wary of unfamiliar people entering the home and may bark or lightly growl while assessing the situation, but this seems rooted in anxiety and uncertainty rather than aggression. While he hasn’t spent much time around children in foster care, he has consistently shown very gentle manners with people. Training & House Manners Waffle Cone is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He had a couple of accidents when first arriving at his foster home, likely due to stress or confusion during the adjustment period, but he settled quickly into routine. One especially adorable habit: he once carried his favorite person’s shoe to bed with him — but never chewed it. What He Needs Waffle Cone’s biggest challenge is some separation anxiety. He becomes extremely distressed when left alone and will bark, whine, and attempt to escape in order to follow his people. His ideal home will have people around, will want to take him places with them, and will also be committed to working with him on alone-time training. Waffle Cone is an incredibly loving, loyal, affectionate companion who simply wants to be included in his people’s lives. He thrives on closeness, cuddles, routines, adventures, and connection. Waffle Cone will be the kind of dog who follows you everywhere, greets you with gentle nose nudges, curls up beside you every evening, and loves you with his whole heart.
