Meet Tumi Turmeric “Tumi” Age: Approximately 1 year old Tumi showed up at our door in Montrose right before the January freeze, searching for safety, warmth, and food. She chose our home as her safe place and later gave birth to her kittens here, spending the past couple of months being an incredibly loving and attentive mama. Tumi is a petite orange girl with a strong personality and an independent spirit. She may seem a little aloof at first and prefers to build trust on her own terms, but once she bonds with someone, she becomes deeply loyal and affectionate. If Tumi chooses you, you become her person. She’ll quietly follow you around the house, supervise everything you’re doing, and ask for attention in her own subtle ways. Once she fully trusts you, she completely softens. She’ll let you pick her up, carry her around, rub her belly, and love on her while she makes the cutest little “prrrr” sounds. She even has a special chirp just for her favorite person. Tumi is intelligent, observant, and strong-willed. She knows what she likes and doesn’t like, and she needs someone who will respect her boundaries while giving her the time and patience to feel safe. Because of her personality, Tumi would do best as the only pet in a calm home with someone who appreciates independent cats and understands that trust with her is something earned over time. She may also do well with a young kitten, especially one who gives her space and lets her set the pace. Underneath her independent exterior is a very sweet, deeply loving cat who is ready to find her person. Tumi is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada. $150 Adoption fee includes vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, microchip, deworming $200 Transport fee for transport and vet/documentation requirements in preparation for transport.
