I am 8 years old and weigh 26 pounds. I need a new home because I was released from a puppy mill. I am being fostered in Kansas City, MO. I am a great lovable girl who learning to overcome my life as a breeder, but I am a little shy at first. Once in a home environment I will come out of my shell and will learn quickly with your help. I get along well with my pug brother in my foster home.. I am low energy and love to rest in my dog bed but I am learning to play. I love my rest and would be happy camped out on the sofa or my bed. I am not unhappy in a crate but much prefer to be out with my family. If you have to leave for a bit I won’t protest staying in my crate. At night I sleep in a dog bed on the floor. I would also be happy to sleep in your bed. I enjoy my meals but am not food focused. I do enjoy a dog treat now and then and have fun with my toys. I am a bit mischievous in this new life and will chew things like a remote, cell phone or anything available...shoes, socks just like a puppy as I have never experienced a home before. Just be patient and watchful. I do not love taking a bath but will tolerate it, but I do love being a clean girl. I can go up steps without a problem and I'm working on down. I enjoy being outside in my yard and love to lay in the sun inside or out. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? I do great as long as I get to go out every couple of hours. No problems overnight. Leash-trained? I only walk if I want to, but we work on the leash every day. Rides well in the car? Yes but may shake a little at first Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? Not yet tested Good with young children? I would be great with older children. Good with strangers? I do ok - a little shy at first but friendly. Shy or confident? All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
